Steven Reid: Players must make the most of life-changing opportunity

“The bottom line is they can do it. They can win.” – Steven Reid pre match on what was at stake for the players on Monday night when the Republic of Ireland played against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

When describing what qualification could mean for them, from his own experiences he said: “It isn’t just their club status that can change. Once you qualify, your life changes. And I’m not talking in materialistic terms. Forget that. Forget the flash cars, the big wages.”

After a 2-0 win at the Aviva stadium, the Irish are on their way to Euro 2016. The Republic join Northern Ireland, England and Wales in reaching France.
