Eniola Aluko – Hits 100 Caps for England
Chelsea striker Eniola Aluko has became an England centurion as she won her 100th international cap for the Lionesses on Wednesday against France at the SheBelieves Cup.
Eni reached the milestone on the Atlantic University Stadium pitch in Florida, she came on for Toni Duggan in the second half and was handed the armband by teammate Steph Houghton to mark the occasion:
“I was overwhelmed when she gave it to me. It’s a huge responsibility wearing the England armband and Steph is a great captain, for her to pass it on to me when I came on was really quite emotional. I’d like to thank Steph, it’s a really special gesture.
It’s only when you reach 90 caps that you start thinking, I can do this. I just feel really proud to be here. I’m really grateful to be keep getting picked and to have reached this milestone and hopefully there’s many more caps to come.”
Eni is only the tenth player to make 100 international appearances for the England national team..Go girl!
