Who Saved Fabrice Muamba’s Life?

It is four years ago this year that Fabrice suddenly collapsed on the football pitch and suffered cardiac arrest but it is also the 50th anniversary of when the first portable defibrillator was used, something that helped save Fabrice’s life. “If it wasn’t for a defibrillator I wouldn’t be here today.

BBC iWonder and Fabrice have published ‘Who Saved Fabrice Muamba’s Life?’. Here he talks about how thankful he is to medical staff today and for the invention of the portable defibrillator but how we also need to ensure the continuation of these devices to save thousands of lives every year.

Fabrice has launched a campaign to get more life saving equipment in public places, he’s teamed up with the likes of Marks and Spencer who are fitting defibrillators in 86 of their stores; “You never know where or when one might be needed”
