Steven Reid joins Reading FC as First Team Coach

Steven Reid has joined Reading FC as their First Team Coach. Steven recently completed his UEFA B and isnow studying for his A License. He has joined up with old manager Steve Clarke at the Championship side.

Steve Clarke said: “After a summer of upheaval behind the scenes I’m very pleased to welcome my new staff members to Reading FC.

“Steven Reid will replace Eamonn Dolan on my first-team coaching staff and Eamonn will revert back to his full-time job as head of our Academy. When I asked Eamonn to step up and help me when I first came to the club it was always on the understanding that the work load of both jobs would be too much and Eamonn would revert back to his original role. However, I enjoyed working with Eamonn so much that I asked him to stay with me until the end of the season and his knowledge, enthusiasm and passion for Reading FC were invaluable to me in those months. But, ultimately, it is impossible for Eamonn to do both jobs and he goes back to running the Academy that has been so successful over the years.

“Steven Reid is someone that I came across at West Brom where he was a valued senior member of my playing staff and immediately I could see that he had the right temperament and characteristics to be a successful coach. Kevin Keen has been by my side for a few seasons and we thought that it would be good for us to alter the dynamic of the coaching staff with a younger coach. Steven will bring a hunger, freshness and enthusiasm to the club that I feel is needed.
