AMY MERRICKS
Amy Merricks is the head coach of Birmingham City Women, having been appointed to the role in April 2024.
Prior to this, she served as the head coach of the England Women's under-19 team, starting from the 2023/24 season.
Amy began her coaching career at Gillingham and Millwall before joining Brighton & Hove Albion in 2015. At Brighton, she progressed from coaching the under-13s and reserves to becoming the women's first-team assistant manager. During her tenure, she stepped in as interim head coach on multiple occasions, demonstrating her leadership and tactical skills.
Merricks completed her UEFA Pro License in June 2023 and has achieved a distinction in the League Managers Association diploma in Football Management.
However, there is no evidence to suggest that she is the first female to obtain the UEFA Pro Licence. Notably, Hope Powell, who later became Birmingham City's technical director, was the first British woman to receive the UEFA Pro Licence in 2003.
Merricks' career reflects her dedication to football and her commitment to advancing the women's game in England.
